At this time, it seems rather questionable to make a full assessment on these 30 second snippets. But, from what I've heard so far, DD needs to add some wow factor & polish what is already there. It's not bad, it's just kinda void at this point.

Trott is a great guitarist! The last one I bought was Wild Flower too...I liked it. Some good songs on there. I agree it's not up to SC or TGS standards though. I think she was going through her breakup with Armstrong and her cancer ordeal when she made WF. It's not an upbeat album for sure. Runway. LOL! Lol......everytime I read Runaway I hear Tom Bailey singing the Thompson Twins song, Runaway. Runaway.......is all you say.......I'll see you again......some other day....... Or "Runaway" by Jamiroquai, which is an absolute classic.

Or "Runaway" by Jamiroquai, which is an absolute classic. Jamiroquai is awesome! I love their funky disco bass lines; it's very crisp. That's the kind of bass I would LOVE to hear in Duran's music again. When I listen to tracks like My Own Way(NV), Girl's On Film (NV), Sound of Thunder, New Religion, Last Chance on the Stairway, etc. and compare it to the music that Duran has made in the last 25 years, it's evident of that prominent element missing in their music. Disco/Electronica/AvantGarde meets Punk/ Hard Rock was what Duran was all about in the beginning. All those genres combined was what gave the classic DD sound. The light multi layered ominous sounding atmospheric chords of NR, disco funky Chic bass driven sounds of JT, punkish/technical rhythmic repertoire of RT, heavy axeman Van Halen style of AT, and Le Bon using multi layered, heavily flanged at times vocals were the elements and foundation of the classic DD sound. Certainly, noone here can deny that and if they do, they apparently don't know much about DD's music to begin with. Definitely. But the recent video update from Roger about the new album suggests that Ronson has had John using his old bass guitars again so hopefully we'll get some classic basslines too.

Definitely. But the recent video update from Roger about the new album suggests that Ronson has had John using his old bass guitars again so hopefully we'll get some classic basslines too. That would be nice. But I would rather a "classic" bassline on a brand new as yet untouched Fender Jazz Bass, as opposed to a basic bassline on John's old Aria Pro II SB1000
