Now that I know Harry survives, I'll pick up the whole series. Call me a sentimental wuss if you like, but I would have seriously found it too much of a downer if I knew he was going to die by the end of the saga.

Thank you! I usually don't photograph well and I rarely post pictures of me. I like that one too.

Could have done without the extremely bad "written by a 14 year old on fanfiction.net" epilogue where everyone ends up paired off with everyone else and they all have loads of children who you just know are going to all end up marrying each other too. But it was a cracker of a book! Best since Azkaban.
And Dobby made me cry! Of all the deaths in that book Dobby's made me weep like a little girl. Probably not because the little annoyance died, but the ritual afterwards. I was moved. ::schniff::
Best laugh out loud moments? 1. "Ron-Weasely-you-arse!" punctuated by thumps from Hermione. 2. Ron and Hermione's snog. (some remark from Harry about picking their moment.) How very seventeen of them!

I was right about the Horcux in Harry too.
How ever I said it happened in the Chamber of Secrets not in the bed room as a baby.
The one part of the book that annoyed me was where the kids kept saing "Dont call so and so that" it kept happening (in one chapter) and irritated the crap out of me. Sounded to me like things small children would say not teen agers.
It was a good read and I too cant wait for the movie.

knew snape was fighting the good fight and would die to save the good guys. he paid the ultimate sacrifice. looooove snape.
i was sad when fred died. i could have taken ron's death (he annoys me), but the weasley twins are some of my favorite characters and i wish they could have continued their crazy antics. liked the epilogue...

I cried almost all the way though the book . I got it about 12.15 am and by the time 3 am rolled around, I was in tears by the last page. a very good way to wrap up a good book. you finished in 2 hours and 45 minutes??? wow. it took me 7.5 and that was my lightening speed. i have been rereading and and getting some stuff that i didn't get the first time. for example, that snape made harry look into his eyes at the moment of his death so he could see lily's eyes one last time. re: someone doing magic late in life, i'm gonna guess it was supoposed to be Petunia. Why? Because she was able to send Dumbledore a letter as a child. Snape thought it was impossible for a muggle to communicate with a wizard. So maybe Petunia had some latent magic in her after all. Also I loved the curse words spattered thru the book! It made me laugh. And, did anyone else notice the really big words used through the entire book. i'm guessing the average 10-yr-old will be using the dictionary. However, if you were 10 when the first book came out then you might feel like the book has grown along with you. Also found in rereading; that harry had created a protection for the fighters by sacrificing himself. jen

Finished it! Wooow, just like being on a rollercoaster! I loved it! Ofcourse I had my sad moments: Dobby, Fred , Lupin, Tonks.. And I was right on some parts of the story: Harry's horcrux, Neville playing a big role (well only in the end) I would never have guessed the Snape/Lily story, but I am glad Snape was on the good side! Now I will patiently wait for the Dutch translation to be published in november It was the first time reading in English, but I am sure the Dutch translation will be even more eye-opening

I have to say this was the best book in the series by far as well. Swallowed it in two days! I too was sad about Dobby and sad about Tonks as well (my niece really likes her and will be disappointed to read that she dies). But I really loved the story from Snape's thoughts in the Pensive. To see that Snape does have a heart and that he tried to show it in his way of loving Lily by being there for Harry. The doe patronus...I cheered when that connection was made. Seems that Snape cared somewhat for Harry. Sorry Snape died.
I, too, knew Harry had to be one of the horcruxes as well and I just knew that he would HAVE to die. Nice to know I was wrong about that in the end.
Off again to reread the book at a slower pace. Can't wait for the movie they are going to really pump it up on that one! ;D
