I really am loving the re-read. Ron just left Harry and Hermione. It really bummed me out all over again.
I was wondering who the two people she decided to kill and the one she gave the reprieve to are. I'm thinking it was Remus and Tonks that she decided to kill off. Perhaps the reprieve was Hagrid? Maybe Percy? What do you guys think?

I thought it was very fitting that Hagrid be the one to carry Harry back to the castle, so my guess is that she reprieved Hagrid simply for that scene.

The reprieve was Arthur Weasley. I'm really glad she didn't kill him. It would have been too much for the poor Weasley's to deal with with Fred dying, George losing an ear and Bill having been attacked by Greyback.

I just finished the book an hour ago, had a good cry then took a shower, now I'm ready to move on with my life...lol.
The final book wrapped up everything quite nicely (though I agree with IVY, Chap 5 & 6) I kept finding myself re-reading a few sentences. I was upset when Dobby died and love the passionate kiss between Ron and Hermoine. I *knew* that Snape was behind Dumbledore and had a feeling that Harry was also a horcrux. At the end, I think Snape is the most tragic character in the book. He died protecting the child of his one true love, Lilly.

I was dancing around when I read that RAB was Reglus and that the locket was at the Black home and that Kreacher had taken it out of the bag. Was thrown however that Mung nicked it afterwards. I have a lot more questions that need answers myself. Did Neville marry Luna? Who's headmaster? Where's Hagrid? How's Harry relationship with the Dursleys??? ARGH! I'm just full of 'em. And I'm with the Weasley twin camp. WHY FRED?!?!?! *sobs*

JK Rowling gave some answers to the "what happened to?" sort of questions in this interview for NBC. The entire interview airs on Sunday in the US. www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19959323/Harry and Ron work for the Auror department (Harry is the head of the department). Hermione works for the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. She says she isn't sure if Luna and Neville end up together. Apparently McGonagall was head of Hogwarts for awhile, but has retired by the time of the epilogue.

Sorry to bump this, but I finally finished it, and yes, Molly calling Bellatrix a beeaatch was the best moment in the whole book, if not the series. I think JK put it in there for some comic relief.
I was disappointed that she didn't say what the 3 ended up doing for a living, yes the epilogue was a bit junior high-esque. Also, do we know who raised Teddy after Lupin & Tonks died?
Very sad that Fred died, but I knew that one of the Weasley's would get it, and it would be hard to take no matter who it was. Even Percy.
I knew Dumbledore would be back in one form or another. I wasn't buying that Harry just surrendered to Voldemort & let him kill him. It may have been wishful thinking as I read it, but something told me he wasn't really dead.
I am so proud of Neville. He's now my all time favorite HP character. He shows that anyone can accomplish what they set out to do if they just put their minds to it. A good lesson for the kids.
I would like to have known a little more about what was happening inside Hogwarts while the trio were on the run.

What I was sorry we never received more clarification on... What happened to Hagrid? What happened to the Dursleys? I felt like those characters fates could have used more closure. I was so hoping for more info on Petunia. I truly thought we'd see more of her story than the little we did.
And.... what are the opinions on that horrible, dying baby Harry saw as he spoke to Dumbledore during his near death experience? Was that symbolic of Voldemort dying?
